Heart Song/Sufi Singing & Readings
Inayati Sufi Order of Denver/Boulder
Musical leader for Heartsong
Angela Gayan Galik
Heart Song is a Sufi-flavored chant gathering that happens on the first Thursday of every month. We begin with a short meditation, sing easy-to-learn songs from many faith traditions, and close with a reading from a sacred text. No experience is necessary — all are welcome! Harmony and self-expression are encouraged in this friendly and welcoming environment. Musicians, bring your instruments! Singers, bring your vocal cords! Everyone, bring your friends!!!
There is a suggested donation of $10. This gathering is facilitated by Angela Gayan Galik and sponsored by the Denver branch of the Inayati Order International. Go here to sign up to receive updates about other events: http://www.frontrangesufiorder.org/classes/. Heart Song meets at Shiva Sai Mandir, 1391 South Pennsylvania, Denver 80210.
Heart Song dates and time: January 4, February 1 and March 1, 2018; 7-9 pm.
Angela Gayan Galik has been both a musician and a spiritual seeker for as long as she can remember. In the early 2000’s, she felt a call to explore sacred singing as a community practice, and thus began many years of study and apprenticeship in the prayer-songs of several world traditions, from Hindu bhajans and Buddhist mantras to ecstatic Gospel hymns and Pagan chants – while always returning home to the Sufi practice of Zikr, or remembrance of the Divine.
